Cissy & Phoebe- If you like David Sedaris you may like a book I stumbled on a few years ago that was co-written by his very talented sister Amy, called "Wigfield: The Can-Do Town That Just May Not".
As I was just looking it up to confirm the title I noticed that one of her two co-authors was a man whose name I didn't know when I read it, but certainly recognize today- Stephen Colbert.
Amy Sedaris is friggin fantastic. My wife likes her new book about entertaining a lot. Also, Strangers with Candy is one of the funniest TV shows ever.
Interestingly enough, Amy Sedaris used to work with a woman named Ty Wenzel who wrote a book called Behind Bars. Amy may be a talented writer, but for the record, Ty should have continued tending bar.
I went to see David Sedaris read at the Sydney Writers' Festival a couple of years ago. He had only 20 minutes for questions after reading The Ship Shape. The first question was from a teenaged girl. It was the classic question writers dread - "Where do you get your funny ideas from?". Mr Sedaris took the question with respect, and spent the whole 20 minutes answering it, honestly and warmly. Bloody brilliant.
Oh wow. I never made the connection between Amy and David Sedaris before. Cool.
I haven't read David Sedaris yet, but my favorite nephew has been on a big Sedaris kick, which got me thinking I should check him out. We've got a couple of his books hanging around here. That may be the solution to my current fiction-less state.

Oh that's harsh! (Also deserved I'm sure.)
I'm a fan of Sarah Vowell and David Sedaris. For me, the bar is set high for this kind of material.
